Enumclaw's Relay For Life American Cancer Society fund raiser could use a few more teams for its June 18 and 19 event.
A team captains' meeting is scheduled for 6 tonight (Wednesday) in the Enumclaw Public Library.
The event runs from 6 p.m. June 18 to noon June 19 in the area around the Enumclaw Public Library in downtown.
One out of four people are touched by cancer, and Enumclaw is stepping up to do its part to help. Relay For Life is a community event designed to raise money for research and programs, draw awareness to the deadly disease, educate people on how to detect and prevent cancer and celebrate the survival of those who have won the battle against one of America's top killers. Teams will camp out and walk a set course in downtown Enumclaw throughout the 18-hour period.
The event will also include a survivors' lap, luminary ceremony, top-notch entertainment, carnival and kids activities, educational programs and more. Last year, the event drew 15 teams, more than 250 participants and raised close to $40,000.
Teams are needed to raise funds and walk during the 18-hour period to raise awareness. Teams can register with Dawn Light at The Cottage, 2004 Griffin Ave, or by calling 360-802-0843.
Registration deadline is May 12, but teams that register early get first choice of camp site.
