One killed in Mount Peak crash
April 30, 2009 · Updated 3:28 PM
A young Buckley man died Sunday night following an accident on the south side of Mount Peak.
Details were sketchy Monday as King County authorities pieced together the incident, but the victim had tentatively been identified as 20-year-old Jesse Boyle.
John Urquhart, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Department, said a witness first reported an accident about 6:40. He confirmed a Jeep-type vehicle had gone over an embankment and crashed, and that a passenger in the vehicle had died at the scene. The driver, who was not identified as of mid-day Monday, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
A Sheriff's Department detective later confirmed the two, including a 19-year-old driver, had been at a party near the top of Mount Peak. Heading to the bottom, the 1988 Jeep Cherokee failed to negotiate a curve. It rolled several times going down a 300-foot embankment and both men were ejected.
