Buckley's newly established salary commission is hard at work after its first meeting Thursday.

The Buckley City Council passed an ordinance establishing the commission to determine the mayor's and city council member's salaries.

Former councilman Kim Walthers was selected to chair the commission, and Marvin Sundstrom was named co-chair. Other committee members are Linda Stone, Lorne Robbins, Lloyd Livernash and Louie Baydek.

The commission met for the first time and, before their next meeting, will be collecting and studying information to help them make their decision.

The upcoming commission meetings are 3 p.m. April 7, April 21 and May 5, all at City Hall, 933 Main St.
