Restaurant owners show appreciation with free meal

During this time of year, some business people are moved to give back to the community in response to the good fortune their customers’ loyalty has brought them. Gary and Sarina Zesiger, owners of T-Bonz Steak House in downtown Enumclaw, are among them.
They will close their restaurant to the general public Sunday, prepare a holiday feast and serve it to five less-fortunate Plateau families.
“I was watching the news the other night and a little boy who was losing his battle with leukemia told one of the reporters that his dying wish was that people who are in position to help do so,” Gary Zesiger said. “That really touched my heart,” the Enumclaw resident for more than 15 years said. “So I talked it over with Sarina and we decided that we were going to give back to this community that has welcomed us with open arms and treated us so nicely for the past six months that our little place has been open.”
Zesiger asked Kimberly Fish, director of Plateau Outreach Ministeries, if she could come up with a few families in need. He also learned of a couple of families from the Nazarene and Baptist churches in Enumclaw.
“One of the ladies I called broke down and cried, saying that there was no way she could have ever afforded anything like this dinner,” Zesiger explained. “We aren’t looking to get anything out of this. We just felt like we wanted to do something for the underprivileged in this community who have perhaps been laid off from their jobs or have been suffering through bad times.”
It’s not just the owners giving back to the community, as employees will be donating their time that afternoon.
The occassion will include a full turkey and ham dinner with all of the trimmings. Zesiger also noted that thanks to George Chin, the manager of the Bonney Lake Albertson’s grocery store, each of the five families will be sent on their way with a plump turkey to cook up and enjoy for themselves throughout the holidays.
