Looking to save money in times of troubled budgets, the White River School District is considering shutting the doors to Wickersham School of Discovery following the current academic year.

That decision is not going over well with Wickersham parents.

To address their concerns, Superintendent Thomas Lockyer has called a public meeting to begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the school gymnasium. The school is at 250 W. Main St. in Buckley.

Like other district elementary schools, Wickersham offers kindergarten through fifth-grade classes. It is different in that it serves students from throughout the district, has a greater focus on the arts and teachers provide a more-individualized curriculum. There is a waiting list of parents hoping to get their children into the school.
