A federal disaster declaration now allows Pierce County residents who were affected by the January flooding to apply for damage assistance.

To seek damage assistance, apply online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362.

Those seeking assistance will need to provide their address, household income, insurance information and a description of their losses.

A Federal Emergency Management Agency damage recovery center opened Feb. 4 in Puyallup’s South Hill Mall. Assistance is available from FEMA, Pierce County and other agencies.

The recovery center is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. The center will remain until further notice.
