The Enumclaw Rotary Club recognized three area students as Students of the Month at its April 16 meeting.
Haley Paulsen, daughter of Lisa Paulsen and granddaughter of Fritz and Lynda Paulson, was the recipient from Collins High School. With a 3.4 grade-point average, Paulsen was nominated by her counselors because of her focus on academics, organizational skills and the sense of pride she has brought to the Collin’s student community. She plans to attend Pierce College to study nursing with the hope of moving on to a four-year college to finish her degree and then working at Children’s Hospital.
Michael Madden, son of Karen and Mike Madden of Buckley, was the recipient from White River High School. An advanced placement psychology student, he has also participated in DECA. A varsity wrestler, Madden also volunteers his time with the youth wrestling program. He plans to attend either Highline Community College or Jamestown College (North Dakota) to continue wrestling while working toward a degree in business with a minor in history or teaching/education.
Norma Perez, daughter of Jesus Perez and Eloina Castillo of Touchet, was the recipient from Enumclaw High School. With a 3.98 grade-point average, she is a teacher’s assistant at the high school and has volunteered her time with a variety of community activities including Project Citizen, Easter egg hunts, the food bank and tutoring on weekends. She plans to return to Mexico City to attend college with the hope of owning her own floral business.
