Bonney Lake Public Works Director Seth Boettcher has resigned and taken the position of city engineer for Puyallup beginning next month.

"This is a very good career move for Seth," Mayor Bob Young said. "He's been with us for 7 1/2 years and he's been much more than an employee, he's been a good personal friend."

Boettcher has been the public works director during the years of explosive growth and development in Bonney Lake.

"We are surprised and pleased for Seth," Councilman Dave King said. "I'm saddened by the loss of a fine public works director, but sometimes smaller cities serve as training grounds. He has made great improvements in the public works department in his time there."

The mayor stated an interim director will be hired while a search is made to find a permanent public works director.
