Buckley to participate in National Night Out
July 14, 2009 · Updated 12:24 AM
The city of Buckley will be participating in National Night Out at 5 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Buckley Youth Activity Center.
This is the 26th year for Night Out. It is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation for, local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Last year’s National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from more than 15,000 communities from all 50 states, United States territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, more than 37 million people participated.
Buckley organizers are planning a family barbecue and games for kids. The police and fire departments will be there, along with several civic groups.
