Buckley voters, with a 77 percent show of support, have authorized the building of a replacement fire station.

Results of the mail-in election, which had ballots due Tuesday, were released Tuesday night by the Pierce County Auditor's Office.

The tally showed 732 "yes" votes, or 76.81 percent, and 221 "no" votes.

The ballot item authorized the collection of up to $5 million for a modern station to replace the city's aging, crowded facility.

The election is slated for certification, making it official, May 12.
