As of Saturday evening, authorities had not released the name of a 32-year-old man who drowned earlier in the day at Lake Tapps.

A spokeswoman with East Pierce Fire and Rescue confirmed the man was at an identified swimming area at the popular lake when he walked into the water and did not surface. Crews from East Pierce and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department responded. Reports said the emergency was called in about 3:20 and the man was pronounced dead at 4:31 p.m.
