A Washington State Boating Education Course will be offered June 20, providing everyone the opportunity to obtain a state-mandated boater education card.

The class, put on by Don Langlois of Ridge Explorations, is planned for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Enumclaw Senior Center. The cost is $49.

Course topics will include getting to know your boat; safe boating operations; legal requirements; boating emergencies; and enjoying water sports.

State law requires that operators of watercraft with motors of 15 horsepower or more must complete a basic boating safety course and obtain a boater education card. The card must be carried with the driver while operating a boat. The card is require dor anyone 12 to 30 years old; next year, the upper limit increases to 35 years old.
