The following is a press release issued Thursday by the Enumclaw Police Department. A full story will follow and will be updated as information becomes available.
At 12:27 a.m. September 15, 2016 officers of the Enumclaw Police Department were dispatched to a theft of merchandise from a local store vicinity of the 150 block of Roosevelt Ave.
Store employees told officers that a middle aged male and female had walked out of the store and put merchandise in the back open bed of an older white pickup driven by another female.
They were last seen by store employees fleeing eastbound on Roosevelt Avenue E.
An Enumclaw Police officer checking the area observed the truck traveling north on the Veazie-Cumberland Rd. During the next several minutes the officer attempted to stop the car and later discontinued the action when the suspect driving the truck was driving with disregard for public safety and at one point nearly collided with one of the Enumclaw Police vehicles.
Enumclaw Officers with the assistance from Auburn and Black Diamond PD’s located the truck in a driveway near SE 380 th St and SR 164. The female driver was immediately arrested and the Auburn PD K9 successfully located the male and other female nearby.
An Aid unit was called for one of the female suspects after it was learned she had struck the dash of the truck when it suddenly stopped. The female was transported to St Elizabeth with non-life-threatening injuries.
There were no injuries or equipment damage to the police units or K9. Police recovered over $900 worth of merchandise.
Two suspects were transported to the Enumclaw Police station for follow-up investigation.
