DUI/POSSESSION: At 2:30 a.m. June 24, an officer observed a vehicle’s headlights flash on and off as it drove. The officer followed the vehicle, and the driver eventually failed to signal a turn, as well as cross the center line. The vehicle also veered sharply to avoid hitting stationary objects, fishtailing several times before regaining control. The officer stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, who’s eyes appeared to be bloodshot, watery and droopy; His breath smelled of intoxicants. The officer asked the driver why he lost control of the vehicle, and the driver told the officer he had been drinking. The man was arrested for driving under the influence. He was additionally found to be in possession of an orange prescription bottle containing cannabis.

RECKLESS: On June 28, officers responded to a report of a recklessly driven vehicle on the 800 block of Main Street. The caller indicated the driver of the other vehicle cut her off, then spun around in a complete circle in the middle of the road. An officer found and stopped the suspect vehicle as it backed into a parking lot. The officer asked the driver why he was driving northbound in a southbound lane. The driver denied driving recklessly and told the officer he had done nothing wrong. He could not furnish identification, and gave the officers a name that was later revealed to be a pseudonym once officers checked for records. The driver’s actual identity allowed officers to discover he had a suspended river’s license and a requirement for a breath-test Ignition Interlock Device. The man was booked into Puyallup Jail for driving on a suspended license, failing to have an ignition interlock device, and obstructing justice.

ASSAULT: On June 29, officers responded to a report of a man allegedly brandishing a knife at two citizens. The caller advised the suspect had left the scene and returned. The caller left the area, but was then followed by the suspect. An officer contacted the caller and suspect, commanding the suspect to stop. Another officer heard the command over the radio and responded for backup. The suspect was handcuffed. He became confrontational with officers, prompting them to pin him against the trunk of a patrol car to control his movements. He continued to pull away and turn toward the officers, so he was placed in the backseat of the car. The suspect became verbally abusive, stating that he would shoot the officers, their wives and their children in their faces; the man allegedly said that he likes killing people. Marijuana was found on the suspect’s person during the search, but no knife. Officers reported they believed the suspect had left the scene of the crime to dispose of his weapon. The victims told officers they were standing near their vehicle talking when the suspect approached holding the knife. The suspect told the victims they were standing in his parking lot and that they needed to leave; the lot in question was actually a public parking lot. The suspect was booked into county jail for assault in the second degree, intimidating a public servant and possession of marijuana.
