Approval of changes to ongoing construction of a new elementary school in the Cascadia region was made Feb. 11 at the Sumner School District’s board meeting.

The decision permits Berschauer Phillips Construction Co. to add more fill and drains at the property’s northeast playground. Other revisions in the construction are for windows and locking mechanisms.

The board was unable to approve a value analysis of Sumner Middle School because there were not enough members present to vote. The analysis is a method of studying the quality and cost of a facility. The study involves a workshop with a team led by an official qualified by the Society of American Value Engineers. The analysis was completed in December.

The board will attempt to approve it at a later date.
