Body of Mountain View Fire & Rescue firefighter found in Grant County near George, Wash

The body of Mountain View Fire & Rescue Firefighter Ken Ward has been found near the Wildhorse Monument near George, Wash.

The body of Mountain View Fire & Rescue Firefighter Ken Ward has been found near the Wildhorse Monument near George, Wash.

An off duty police officer spotted Ward and his truck around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The Grant County Coroner’s staff will conduct an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death. There is no indication of any foul play.

Ward’s family and the staff at Mountain View Fire & Rescue wrote in a press release they would like to thank everyone that helped in the search for Ward. There were more than 100 off-duty firefighters, police officers and other individuals who helped search across the state. This search covered the entire state using personal vehicles, ATVs, helicopters, and fixed wing aircraft.

There are no details on a memorial service at this time.

In the press release Mountain View Fire & Rescue stated its thoughts are with Ward’s family as “we all mourn the loss of our brother.”
