Students from the Bonney Lake High School ProStart culinary team took sixth place of 21 schools represented at the state ProStart Invitational on March 6.

The tournament, held at South Seattle Community College, required teams to prepare two three-course meals to restaurant industry standards over an hour. A concurrent competition judging restaurant management competency was also held, but the Panthers did not enter a team.

“Our team represented well at state last Friday,” ProStart Instructor Kahale Ahina said. “They impressed many executive-level chefs with their outstanding technique, execution, teamwork, preparedness, focus and downright good grub.”

Oak Harbor High School took first place in competition. The Washington state ProStart Invitational was sponsored by the Washington Restaurant Association.
