Bonney Lake High School football coach Chad Barrett has resigned from his position after Sumner School District found him responsible for up to $20,000 in fundraising money unaccounted for in the ASB bank account.

The News Tribune’s Doug Pacey broke the story earlier today.

In summary: $16,000 to $20,000 gathered in an annual ASB fundraising campaign is missing. The precise amount is unknown because a portion of the fundraiser relied on sales of discount cards; a number of unsold cards are missing, so there is no way of knowing how much revenue they could have generated.

Under Barrett’s mutual separation agreement with the district, he must pay restitution for the missing funds.

The past two comparable fundraising campaigns generated approximately $17,000 each, district communications director Ann Cook said.
