Not everyone has what it takes to be a police officer, but with Sumner’s Citizens Academy people have the opportunity to experience what it’s like as one of Sumner’s finest.

On April 8 the first of the eight-session academy is taught at Sumner City Hall. Every Thursday a class will provide citizens with information about what police officers encounter in their daily lives including patrolling procedures and traffic enforcement on April 15, criminal law on April 29. One of two Saturday field trips is planned for May first to Remann Hall juvenile facility. The other trip is on May 22 to a driving course.

A graduation ceremony and dinner is scheduled later and will end the academy.
