Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close both directions of SR 164/Griffin Avenue overnight on Monday, June 16, Tuesday, June 17 and Thursday, June 19 for paving and grinding work. Both directions of SR 164 will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

During the full closures, drivers will follow a signed detour via 244th Avenue, Roosevelt Avenue and Cole Street.

Additionally, drivers can expect lane shifts to continue next week between Farrelly and Porter Streets daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for curb and ramp placement.

More than 1.5 miles of SR 164 between High Point Street and State Route 410 will be repaved this summer to preserve and extend the life of the highway. It was last paved in 1998. The $3.2 million project will also improve more than 90 sidewalk ramps and install a new traffic signal at the intersection of SR 410 and Watson Street.  Work will be complete by early fall.
