A team from H2O Solutions of Bellevue spent approximately 30 hours last week cleaning and checking the city of Bonney Lake’s peaking storage facility.

The crew, consisting of a diver, and two support staff, were hired in November to clean out all of the city’s water tanks and search for the source of a small leak in the peaking storage tank, the city’s largest and only concrete tank.

Original estimates showed the tank leaking at approximately three times the original engineering estimate.

A diver enteres the tank through one of the roof hatches built into the top. He swam to the bottom with a light and a camera and systematically checked all 60,000-square-feet of the structure’s footprint.

The $6 million, 15-million gallon tank was opened in Oct. 2007 and is designed to hold water for times when the draw on the city’s water system is more than the wells can produce, which officials said happens approximately three weekends per year in the summer.
