Are you looking for a community service activity?  The Enumclaw Visitor Center is looking for tourism-minded volunteers to help promote Enumclaw to visitors coming to the Mt. Rainier area.  If you are 16 years or older and are looking for a community service opportunity, this position offers the experience of working in an office environment while helping the public.  There are several shifts available.  For more information call the Chamber of Commerce office at 360-825-7666 or e-mail julie@enumclawchamber.com.

 

Summer Boys Basketball starts Tuesday, May 29. Information has been distributed. If needed, please stop by the athletic office.

Information in Review:

VOTING for next year’s FFA Officer team happens WEDNESDAY during core/choice in Ms. Morrison’s room. If you want to vote please come promptly! Doors will be shut and locked at 5 minutes into CORE. Seniors may watch but cannot vote. Only current, paid FFA members can vote. Candidates will give a maximum 3 minutes speech. The newly elected officers will then be announced THURSDAY at the annual awards banquet. Banquet happens at 6pm in the EHS Commons. Free meal to all.

 

Only 5 more sessions of after-school tutoring in the Library.  If you want to get those missing assignments in, we can help- every Monday and Wednesday, 2:30 – 3:30PM.

 

IT’S PROM SEASON!! Order your corsage/boutonnière at the EHS Hornet Floral Shop today! Stop by Room 810 soon, orders must be received by May 30th! Boutonniere’s are $10, corsages are $15, or you can pay $20 for the set. All pieces will be made with roses and can be sprayed any color! Please pay cashier and bring receipt to pick up your pieces Friday, June 1st!

Attention All Dancers! Dance Team Try-outs begin next Tuesday, May 29th.  Please pick-up paperwork right away!  See Mrs. Lang for questions!

Attention everyone. Mark your calendar. Friday, June 1st is the annual EHS Streetmasters Club Car Show and Car Bash. Once again there will be prizes for the Best of Show for students and teachers vehicles along with many other categories. For more information, check out the flyers around campus or the entry form which you can pick up in the auto shop or in the activities office. Hope to see you there.

The “Connections Program” is coming to EHS! What is the Connections program you may ask? This is an elective class you can take and be a peer tutor for one period a day helping your special needs peers. You would be asked to tutor in math, reading, writing or whatever the class is working on that period. This program has been a huge success at TMMS and we can make it one at EHS also. If you are at all interested in checking it out, there is a sign up sheet on the round table in the counselors office. Mrs. Shorter will be collecting those names and will call you down for an interview in the next couple weeks. This is an awesome opportunity for all Hornet’s to give back to their peers and their community!

The Hornets Girls Water Polo Team finished their season with a 24-2 record.

The Hornets had six players named to East Division All-League Teams, and four players named to All-State Teams:

Congratulations to the follow Track and Field athletes moving on to the State Championships this weekend at Mt. Tahoma High School:  Cory Johnson, Maria Blad, Kolton Carlson, Anna Marie Forza & Logan Ross

Another Congrats to Marie Blad for breaking the Sophomore record in both the 100 and 300 hurdles and Sherry Baer for another personal best and breaking the school record in the pole vault with a 9 feet 9 inch vault!

The April/May Monthly Scholarship & College Information List is now available.  Stop by the Counseling or Career Center to pick up a copy or go to the Career Center Swift Website.

SENIORS 2012:

If you are a senior that has received 6 letters or more, please stop by the Athletic Office.

 

Seniors:  If you ordered honor cords, they are available for pick-up in the Main Office.  See Mrs. Bray.

 

There will be a senior class meeting during Core/Choice on Thursday, May 24th to give the final information about Project Make ‘Em Weep! Be sure to be there to find out all the information you’ll need to know!

 

Graduation Walking Partners will be assigned, if you do not have a partner, the week before Graduation when tickets are being handed out and also at Senior Check out.

 

Please let us know of any scholarships you have earned.  Go to the Enumclaw High School Homepage and click on the link for Senior Scholarship Form and follow directions on form.  The deadline to turn any scholarships in is May 18th

 

Seniors, if you received an invitation to the senior luncheon on May 24 be sure to RSVP by placing the blue ticket with your name on it in the box in the office.  Invitations went to all seniors with a cummulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.  If you did not receive an invitation, but believe that you should have, please see Mrs. Ross in room 211.

Countdown to Commencement:

Each day through June 8th, Mr. Nelson would like one or more 2012 graduates to be featured on the district website as we “Countdown to Commencement”.  There is a short form available in the Activities Office to be completed by the graduate.  Please return your completed form to the Activities Office.  A picture of the graduate will be posted on the website along with the information from the form. We would be pleased to have ALL the 2012 grads featured!

 

Graduation announcements are available in the Main Office for purchase.  They are $1.25 ea.

And if you have not picked up your gown, etc. it is available in the main office right now!

 

SENIORS:  Do you qualify for the COMMITMENT AWARD?  Did you turn out for any sports?  Have you been in any Clubs?  Did you run for an office? In BOC?  Were you on the Honor Roll?  Have you done any School Service/Community Service?  If you can say yes to these you may qualify for this award.  Please come to the Activity Office to pick up the information

 

PROM TICKETS will be on sale during lunches next week, May 21st – May 24th at the ASB window in the Commons. $80.00 for first 215 purchased, all remaining tickets will be $85.00. Running Start students who can’t make it during this time can purchase tickets from the Cashier between 2:00-3:00pm these days.   Only the senior going to EHS can purchase these tickets.  No credit cards!

 

PROM ROYALTY VOTING will be during both lunches May 22nd – May 24th. Seniors only!

 

WALKING PARTNERS need to be selected! You will be able to sign up during lunches the week of June 4th – June 8th in the Commons.

The Native American Club is an opportunity for students to participate in leadership and cultural activities. The group will meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the counseling offices. There are no fees to participate in the club. Club participation is a great opportunity to learn about Tribal leadership.

The Plateau Running Club of Enumclaw proudly presents the Amazing 3000 Elementary and Open Cross Country race at Southwood Elementary School.  Join the fun – the school with the most runners participating will receive a donation to their phy-ed program for new equipment!  Applications are available in the Athletic Office.

 

Hey friends this will separate the Hornets from the honey bees (and the DNA from the RNA): “We need YOU to come celebrate Mr. Phil Poppleton and his huge contribution to education with a fabulous party at the Enumclaw Danish lodge- 1708 Porter St. – on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 2:00 pm until the wee hours! Look forward to laughs and stories and dancing. You and your family are expected to attend. No exceptions will be made without written explanation slip from a parent or doctor.
