White River High School’s FFA rituals team won the subdistrict competition March 1 at Sumner High School.

The top four students in each flight category advanced to the district competition at Yelm. From there the top five advanced to state competition in Pullman.

Individually, Sarah Kahout and Mikey Burley won their flight in the job interview competition. WRHS teammate Lindsey Nourse was second behind Burley and Kayla LeTourneau was fourth. In Kahout’s flight, Kelsey English and Christina Ramous finished third and fourth, respectively.

Kahout was also a third-place finisher in public speaking.

Maddie Budinich of White River was third in the Creed contest and Hailee Mass was fourth, while teammate Mackenzie Dashofsky was fourth in extemporaneous speaking. William Sathre was ninth. Daschofsky ill also serve as an alternate in public speaking.

White River FFA students will host their annual all-you-can-eat spaghetti feed fundraiser from 6 to 8 p.m. April 8 in the high school commons. The cost is $5. The event will also include a silent auction and dessert auction. Money raised through the event helps send students to the state competition.

Enumclaw High School’s Cole Snyder was the top finisher with a second-place prize in public speaking. Teammate Riley Campbell finished fourth in his flight in Creed, while Kelsey Shigley was sixth in her Creed flight.

Heather Harrington finished eighth in extemporaneous speaking with Taylor Harrison 11th.

The annual Northwest Junior Livestock Show and Sale is scheduled for April 13-17 at the Western Washington Fairgrounds in Puyallup.
