Fireworks frenzy keeps officers busy|Enumclaw Police Reports July 4 – July 7

ILLEGAL FIREWORKS: Illegal fireworks were confiscated or otherwise reported throughout Saturday at Grand Fir Drive, Johnson Street, A Court, Wells Street, Battersby Avenue, Watson Street, Natalie Place, Owell Avenue, Kibler Avenue, Elmont Avenue, Douglas Fir Drive, Pine Cone Avenue, Redwood Street and Porter Street. One such report at 6:45 p.m. on 284th Ave SE involved fireworks being set off in close proximity to the fireworks that would be used for the town show.

DUI: A traffic stop at 6:24 p.m. July 4 resulted in a female driver taken into custody and booked into jail on suspicion of driving under the influence. Her vehicle was removed from 284th Ave SE and impounded.

YOUTHS BEHAVING BADLY: At 7:47 p.m. July 4, officer attempted to locate two juvenile females with a tall juvenile male, as well as a grown man in a blue shirt with a child in a yellow shirt. All of the subjects were last seen at the intersection of Cole Street and Roosevelt Avenue. They were suspected of panhandling and purchasing alcohol underage. The officer found the females, one of whom had a warrant that was unable to be confirmed. She was released to her parents, whom were instructed to contact juvenile court.

MAYBE THEY WERE COVERING UP THE ARGUMENT: An officer responded Monday to loud music coming from a van parked on Wells Street. Inside, two people were in the middle of an argument. The situation settled down as soon as the officer intervened, and they agreed to keep the noise level down.

LICENSE SUSPENDED: A driver was arrested Monday after being found driving with license suspended in the second degree. The vehicle was left legally parked near the intersection of state Route 410 and Warner Avenue.

UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT: The police department received two reports Monday of a suspicious object in the sky moving towards Mt. Rainier. It was described as large and bright orange before it suddenly disappeared. The department checked with Mt. Rainier authorities, but nothing was reported in that area. Object may have been a parachute flare.

HIT AND RUN: An elderly person was the victim of a hit and run accident Tuesday. The victim was contacted by an officer at home on Monroe Avenue, where insurance information was given for the report.

ILLEGAL BEVERAGE FOR A HOT DAY: An officer responded Tuesday to a report that a man had been drinking alcohol publicly on Roosevelt Avenue. An Enumclaw Municipal Court warrant was located and cleared, allowing the officer to book the man.

NOT DUI BUT READY TO PARTY: A man who appeared to be intoxicated was reported driving his white Volvo through a drive-thru with an open container in his lap Tuesday. He was pulled over on Garrett Street by an officer. The man was negative for driving under the influence, but he was cited for carrying an open container and driving without insurance.

RESTING HIS EYES: A man was passed out on the corner of Gossard Place and Kibler Avenue Tuesday. An officer made contact with the man and he agreed to move on.

AN EXPLOSIVE COMBINATION: Fireworks were reported in a Battersby Avenue parking lot Tuesday. Sparks came through the window of the reporting person, who was using her oxygen tank. The children using the fireworks agreed to leave and the reporting woman refused aid, but the officer arranged for extra patrol.

WARRANT ARREST: Officers contacted two subjects Wednesday on Roosevelt Avenue near the Safeway and AMPM. Both had left the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the Flaming Geyser area, generating a warrant with the city of Auburn. Both were taken into custody to be transported to Auburn and the King County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the accident information. The vehicle the two women were driving at the time of the accident was later found on 236th Ave SE.

TOILET ARSON: A person driving on Warner Ave Wednesday reported a Port-A-Potty on fire. No explosion was heard and no suspect was seen leaving the area.
