Nov. 12

Theft: A theft was reported that allegedly occurred several weeks prior, while a heating and air conditioning company had access to the home. Several pieces of jewelry were stolen. The incident wasn’t initially reported because the victim wanted to be sure the items weren’t misplaced. There were no investigative leads at the time of report.

Shoplifting: A subject was detained without incident for shoplifting a bottle of whiskey from a grocery store on SR 410.  The subject was cited and released.

Nov. 13

Harassment: A parent called to report harassment against her juvenile son, who purchased an electronic cigarette from another minor. He began threatening the boy via social media, claiming he never received payment for the exchange. The aggressor was not placed in custody but the case was sent to the juvenile prosecutor.

Shoplifting: A juvenile was caught shoplifting from a SR 410 retail store. She readily apologized for the incident and was released to her mother. Charges were forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor.

Nov. 14

Drug Paraphernalia: Officers responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a building on Locust Avenue East. The vehicle was occupied by a driver and passenger, both of which exhibited signs of impairment. They were found to be in possession of and actively using drug paraphernalia. Both were issued citations and the driver was booked in to Puyallup jail.

Nov. 15

Scammed: An area bank asked police to conduct a welfare check because they suspected a man may have been pressured to apply for a loan by a third party. A U.S. Postal Inspector also responded to the residence, in regards to money orders that were sent by the victim but never picked up. The victim was informed of the scam, notified the bank that he no longer wanted the loan and was reimbursed for the money orders. However, other forms of cash were also sent to the scammer, which were not recoverable.

Shoplifting: A juvenile was found shoplifting items in her purse at a SR 410 retail store. She provided the responding officer with a false phone number for her parents and was unwilling to admit that the person on the other end was not her father. The officer was able to contact her parents and verify their identity before releasing her in to their custody. Charges were forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor.

Domestic Violence: A parent called to report her son lost his temper when confronted about suspected drug use. He pushed his parent and began punching the walls. He was arrested without incident and transported to Remann Hall.

Fraud: An area business owner called to report an unauthorized charge on her debit card. The victim was unaware how someone would access her card number. No suspect information was available.

Nov. 16

Denial: Officers responded to the report of a home invasion in progress. The homeowner went downstairs to investigate a loud noise and he saw the intruder, who claimed he needed a ride home. The intruder fled but officers located his vehicle nearby. Police caught up to him at his residence and he was positively identified by the homeowner. He was booked in to Pierce County jail but maintained denial of his involvement.

Vehicle Prowl: A resident of North Island Drive East reported an unknown person entered her unlocked vehicle and stole several items. Tire tracks were photographed but no other suspect information was available.

Domestic Violence: A person called to report his sister had grown violently angry and was throwing objects around the home. She admitted to breaking the television but denied the allegation of throwing scissors at her brother. The suspect was arrested and transported to Puyallup jail.

Nov. 18

Vehicle Prowl: Officers responded to the report of a vehicle prowl behind a SR 410 retail store. The victim described the suspect and officers were able to locate him nearby. On his person were the stolen items, as well as methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and burglary tools. He was booked in to Pierce County jail.

Firearm Disposal: A resident requested police properly dispose of several firearms. He claimed they were passed down in his family but he no longer wanted them. A routine records check on the serial numbers came back clear, so they were booked in to evidence, pending proper disposal.

Domestic Violence: Officers responded to the report of an assault in progress. The reporting person and her roommate were physically assaulted by two suspects. The suspects fled the scene but a Tacoma Police officer located one of the suspects at his residence. He was booked in to Pierce County jail and at the time of report, the other suspect had not been located.

Traffic Hazard: Police were notified of an intoxicated man who was taking off his clothes and walking in to traffic. Upon contact, the subject admitted to having a firearm in his backpack. He was given a courtesy ride away from the scene and the firearm was put in police custody for safekeeping. The subject was advised to contact the department during normal business hours to retrieve it when he is no longer intoxicated.
