June kicks off Dairy Month

June is dairy month and King-Pierce Dairy Ambassador Cherise Lanting will be busy.

The Enumclaw High School senior, who was crowned April 14, has already made a number of appearances including the Spring Dairy Show. Earlier in June, she was be at the Enumclaw Senior Activity Center and Enumclaw’s Columbia Bank handing out ice cream. She was at Enumclaw Regional Hospital welcoming the first baby born during dairy month and June 25 she will be attending the state Dairy Ambassador coronation.

Her year-long duties will continue with a number of fairs throughout the summer.

Lanting, the daughter of Mike and Yolanda Lanting, is a third-generation Enumclaw dairy farmer.

The King-Pierce Dairy Women are also celebrating dairy month with a compilation of their favorite recipes. Cookbooks are available for $10 through Darlene DeGroot at darlenedegroot@aol.com.
