Local libraries host holiday events

Local branches of the Pierce County Library System will be cranking up the holiday spirit with a variety of programs.

Colorful marionettes perform a holiday-themed, in-the-round show at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Bonney Lake Library. No registration is required for the free, family event. At 11:30 a.m. on the 10th, The Dickens Carolers will entertain at the Bonney Lake library, 18501 90th St. E.

A marionette program will be offered at noon Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Sumner library, 1116 Fryar Ave.

Also, Mexican holiday traditions, games and entertainment will be offered from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Sumner library. Enjoy traditional crafts and games like luminarias and a piñata. Registration is required. Call 253-548-3306 or visit the branch to register.

A week later, on Dec. 17, visitors at the Sumner library will be able to make a gingerbread house from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All supplies are provided. No registration is required, but kids 6 and younger should be accompanied by an adult.

Visitors to the Buckley library, 123 S. River Ave. will be able to make a gingerbread house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10. The program is for all ages, but those younger than 6 should be accompanied by an adult. No registration is required.

On Dec. 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., guests at the Buckley library will be able to see Santa and Mrs. Claus, and make festive snowflakes from noon to 2 p.m. The program is for ages 6 and older, accompanied by an adult.
