Local teachers to receive packages of supplies

The Cellular Connection (TCC), the largest Verizon Premium Wireless Retailer in the U.S., in a joint effort with its customers, announces today that it will be donating school supply packs to 3,500 teachers across the country through its Teachers Rock Supply Giveaway.

More than 350 participating TCC stores across the U.S. have pre-selected 10 local teachers who will come to the store to receive the packs on Feb. 23 between 6 – 7 p.m. (local times). The packages—valued at $80 each—will be filled with supplies, including glue, pencils, pens, markers, erasers, paper, tissue boxes and more. For every teacher reached, TCC is impacting 30 students.

The 10 local teachers receiving the packages are from Daffodil Valley Elementary. They are:

Sara Palmer

Bobbi Mary

Mallory Goodwin

Leslie Hartley

Angie Argo

Kylie Sund

Jenny Lamont

Shana Watkins

Jessica Miller

Michelle Nazelrod

The TCC store in Sumner at 15105 Main Street E., Suite 108 will be handing out the packages to the Daffodil Valley teachers on Feb. 23.

Residents in the community of each participating store have also joined the cause by rounding their purchases up to the nearest dollar with the difference going directly toward the Teachers Rock Supply Giveaway. If the participating store raises more than $500 through customer contributions, they will use that money to purchase additional supplies for the teachers.

“Every year, teachers spend an average of $1.3 billion of their own money on school supplies, and on top of that, budget cuts continue to lead to less support for our teachers,” said Scott Moorehead, president and CEO of TCC. “At TCC, we believe teachers deserve more. We believe that teachers rock. This is one more way we are giving back through our Culture of Good, and we’re proud to be able to do it.”

The Teachers Rock Supply Giveaway is taking place 6 months after TCC’s donation of 60,000 backpacks full of school supplies to children across the U.S. through its School Rocks Backpack Giveaway initiative.

TCC was recently ranked No. 79 in the second annual Inc. Hire Power Awards, recognizing private businesses that have generated the most jobs during the past 18 months. The listing comes on the heels of TCC also being recognized by Inc. as one of America’s fastest-growing private companies for the fourth consecutive year.
