LICENSE SUSPENDED: At 1:51 p.m. March 24, an officer witnessed a vehicle traveling on Veterans Memorial Drive with cracks in the windshield and a trailer hitch ball partially obscuring the license plate. The officer initiated an emergency stop to issue verbal warnings and asked the driver for his license, registration and insurance. The driver informed the officer his license was suspended, and he believed he had warrants out for his arrest; he was unable to provide registration or insurance, but he furnished a state ID card. A records check confirmed the suspension and the warrants out of the Bonney Lake and Tacoma municipal courts. The driver was arrested and booked into Enumclaw jail with full cooperation.

SUSPICIOUS: At 10:48 p.m. March 21, an officer observed an occupied pickup in the Midas parking lot after the businesses in the commercial center had closed. He contacted the driver, who said he had run out of gas and was attempting to contact a friend for assistance. The driver could not provide identification, but he gave his name and said he had a warrant. A records check confirmed the warrant issued by the Tacoma Police Department and the man was arrested and transported to Fife Jail for booking.

REPORT OF SALE: On March 22, an officer on routine patrol stopped a pickup in the AM/PM parking lot after a records check revealed a report of sale more than 45 days prior to a Sumner man. On contact, the driver identified himself as someone other than the reported owner and said he had purchased the vehicle from the Sumner man three days prior. A check of the driver’s record revealed a warrant issued by the Puyallup Police Department. The driver was taken into custody without incident and shortly thereafter transferred to a Puyallup officer.

DISORDERLY: At 1:45 a.m. March 23, an officer responded to an 188th Avenue East residence regarding an intoxicated man who refused to leave. As he approached the home, he saw the suspect standing in the driveway yelling at a woman and man. The woman asked the suspect to speak with the police officer. As he turned, the smell of alcohol was immediately apparent on his breath; he had leaves in his hair and dried blood on his lips. When asked what happened, he said his friends would not let him leave. The officer advised him to contact someone who could pick him up. The woman in the driveway said the man had been asked to leave, but he tried to get in his car while evidently drunk. Someone took his keys away so he could not drive, after which he became belligerent, attempting to fight several people at the residence. Because of this, other people restrained him while the woman called police. According to her account, he remained belligerent despite several offers to help him find a ride home. During the woman’s account, the suspect began yelling and cursing at people in the front yard, including assisting officers on the scene. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and booked into Enumclaw jail, where he blew a .195 blood alcohol level on a portable breath test device.

RUN AWAY!: At 11:08 p.m. March 23, an officer observed a pickup traveling on 93rd Street East. A records check showed the registered owner to be without a license. After initiating a traffic stop, a woman exited the passenger-side door and fell down. Then a man exited out the passenger-side door and ran east down 92nd Street East. The woman stood up and followed him. The officer detained the driver and obtained the fleeing subjects’ names. An arriving backup officer, upon hearing the fleeing man’s first name, stated he was familiar with a person who shared his name and description. A warrant check on the name confirmed a conditional release violation issued by Pierce County. After the warrant was confirmed, a Puyallup K9 unit responded to conduct a search with negative results. The driver was released, having been found to possess a valid out-of-state drivers license.
