After 17 months at the helm of the Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce, Tracey McCallum has announced her resignation.

“I really feel a need to focus on my family,” she said, citing the hectic work load that comes with heading the chamber and its associated visitor center.

“We’ve done a lot of good work,” the fourth-generation Enumclaw resident added, noting pride in the chamber’s achievements since she took over on April 1, 2010. During McCallum’s short tenure, the chamber revived its sponsorship of the downtown holiday parade, created a Wine Walk and Santa’s Village, and remodeled the office to make it more visitor-friendly. In addition, 70 new members have been added to the roster.

“We’ve really been involved in a lot of things,” she said, “and I’m happy with what we’ve done for the chamber.”

McCallum’s final day in the office will be Sept. 15.

“I feel like I’m ready for a break,” she said, noting that she took the chamber position after serving as executive director at the Cedar Ridge assisted living and retirement center in Bonney Lake.

Tim Pierick, president of the chamber’s board of directors, said the board’s intent was to advertise the position quickly and have a replacement on board prior to McCallum’s departure.
