DRUG ARRESTS

• A Nov. 27 traffic stop resulted in a male driver being taken into custody for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A male passenger was taken into custody for possession of marijuana.

• Another traffic stop Nov. 27 resulted in a male driver taken into custody and booked for reckless driving and possession of marijuana. His passenger also was charged with possession of marijuana.

INTOXICATED

• Two separate Nov. 27 traffic stops had the same results: the drivers being arrested for driving under the influence.

SKATE AWAY

• A call came from a Garrett Street business Nov. 26, complaining of a group of juveniles skateboarding in a drive-through area. Officers located the group and advised them of the rules and the group agreed to move on.

THEFT

• A woman reported Nov. 26 that her wallet, paycheck and checkbook were stolen from her purse while she was at work. It had been four days since the items were last seen.

NO CONTACT

• The manager of a Griffin Avenue apartment building called police Nov. 25, asking that they attempt to contact a man in one of the units. Police attempted contact and heard a television, but no one answered the door. The suspect was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the state Department of Corrections.

SUSPICIOUS

• Police heard from King County authorities Nov. 25 of someone attempting to lure children into a vehicle by offering candy. The incident occurred in the vicinity of Southeast 416th Street and 212th Avenue Southeast. The suspect vehicle was described as a white van with “scene” on the back. When staff approached, the vehicle sped away.

VACCINE THEFT

• Police were told Nov. 25 of the theft of flu vaccine from a Griffin Avenue medical clinic.

ATTEMPT TO LOCATE

• Responding to a request from the Buckley court, Enumclaw officers responded Nov. 25 to a local address. The suspect fled upon the officers’ arrival but another subject was found to have an outstanding warrant issued by Maple Valley; he was apprehended and booked.

STABBING

• Enumclaw police were advised about 11:30 p.m. Nov. 25 that a Washington State Patrol trooper was escorting a vehicle to the local hospital, where a passenger needed treatment for a stab wound. The stabbing reportedly occurred in Buckley and Buckley officials located the suspect. Enumclaw police took the driver into custody for being a minor in possession of alcohol.

STABBING

• Three Buckley minors, drunk and messing around with a knife at a Ewing Street address Nov. 25, found out the hard way that this was not a good combination. One of three teens involved ended up getting stabbed accidently, just below the left armpit, as two of the young male subjects were roughhousing on the floor of a backyard shed. The more sober member of the trio transported his bleeding friend to Enumclaw Regional Hospital where he was admitted, treated and released the next day. The youth who delivered the victim to the ERH emergency room was promptly placed into custody for being a minor in possession.

The victim did not wish to press charges against the suspect and was uncooperative with local authorities. However, when the knife was inserted into the rib cage of the victim, it possibly nicked his lung, which increasing the severity of the crime and required local police to report the crime to Pierce County prosecutors for further review of charges. The crime is currently under investigation by the Buckley police.

ESPRESSO ROBBERY

• Police responded to a silent alarm at around 7 p.m. Saturday at the Plateau Espresso stand adjacent to the Buckley Eagles. The espresso stand’s attendant thought the young man, who entered through the back door of the shop, was joking, but when he put his hand in his coat pocket, implying that he had some sort of concealed weapon and told the now-frightened attendant to hand over all the money or else, she quickly bagged up approximately $200 in cash and gave it to him. The thief apparently fled on foot and a police K-9 unit was brought in to see if the man’s scent could be picked up. The trail went cold in an abandoned church parking lot in the 200 block of Mason Avenue, where it is believed the suspect then fled the area in an unknown vehicle. There were no witnesses that saw the car drive off, but the crime is under investigation.
