REMINDER: D-Day survivor talks about the invasion Saturday in Sumner

The Friends of the Sumner Library sponsor Remembrance and Sacrifice: A Personal, Firsthand Account of D-Day, June 1944.

People will have the opportunity to learn about the historical importance of D-Day from a living witness to the Allied invasion of Europe in 1944 during a free event Saturday at the Sumner Pierce County Library.

Sumner resident and former Sumner High School principal Bill Heath will discuss his experience landing on Omaha Beach during the D-Day invasion of Normandy, June 1944. Heath served with the 302nd Brigade as an MP guarding German prisoners of war through late August 1944.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Library, 1116 Fryar Ave.
