Rotary selects students of the month

The Enumclaw Rotary Club recognized three area students as Students of the Month at its Thursday meeting.

The Enumclaw Rotary Club recognized three area students as Students of the Month at its Thursday meeting.

Justina Frye, daughter of Lisa Desjardins of Bonney Lake and Keith Frye, was the recipient from Collins High School. Frye, who maintains a 3.7 grade-point average, was nominated by her counselors because of her determination, perseverance and dedication to excellence. She plans to attend Green River Community College to study photography.

Elise Owen, daughter of Rhonda and Alvin Owen of Buckley, was the recipient from White River High School. An advanced placement psychology student, she participates with the Connections Program. She has been on the varsity soccer program for four years, serving as captain this season and also is a state champion power lifter. Owens plans to attend either Eastern Washington University or Central Washington University and studying sports medicine.

Kaitlin Norton, daughter of Ted and Dawn Norton of Enumclaw, was the recipient from Enumclaw High School. With a 3.9 grade-point average, Norton is a member of the National Honor Society. She has been an active member of the FFA and currently serves as the club’s president, and has competed on a variety of projects at the state level. She plans to attend either Washington State University or the University of Idaho in the fall to study agricultural education and would hope to return to the area to teach.
