SR 167, Puyallup River bridge inspection continues Saturday

Washington State Department of Transportation bridge crews will return to the northbound State Route 167 Puyallup River Bridge on Saturday, Oct. 19, to complete a bridge inspection they began last weekend.

Washington State Department of Transportation bridge crews will return to the northbound State Route 167 Puyallup River Bridge on Saturday, Oct. 19, to complete a bridge inspection they began last weekend.

Because of the narrow width of the bridge, crews will close the northbound bridge to all traffic at 4 a.m. Saturday. They will reduce SR 167 to one lane in each direction and route both lanes over the parallel southbound SR 167 bridge.

Crews hope to complete the inspection and remove traffic control by noon Saturday, however they caution the work may take longer. They will clean areas of the bridge and use an “Under-Bridge Inspection Truck” with a specialized arm to reach around the bridge railing and below the deck.

Motorists traveling through the area are advised to add time to their journeys and to expect delays, especially if the northbound bridge stays closed beyond noon on Saturday.
