Sumner city administrator abruptly leaves position

With little ado, City Administrator Diane Supler stepped down from her position with the city of Sumner in mid-April, ending a six-year run with the municipal government.

[UPDATED 5/15/2012: This article originally stated Diane Supler left Tacoma’s OMBA to become Sumner’s City Administrator. She began as Deputy City Administrator under John Doan, until he left for the City of Tumwater in 2010.]

With little ado, City Administrator Diane Supler stepped down from her position with the city of Sumner in mid-April, ending a six-year run with the municipal government.

“Diane Supler [indicated] that she would like to leave employment here in Sumner,” Communications Director Carmen Palmer wrote in an email dated April 16. “She is  on paid administrative leave  while the City reviews the matter.”

As city administrator, it was Supler’s to manage the day-to-day operation of government.

For the time being, the city has installed police chief John Galle as the interim city administrator.

Supler became deputy city administrator in March 2006, after leaving the directorship of the city of Tacoma’s Office of Management Budget and Analysis. She was promoted to city administrator in 2010 after predecessor John Doan left for the City of Tumwater.

There was no indication at the time of this writing that Supler had accepted a position with another organization.
