Sumner has forged an agreement with a private property owner in which the owner will build a stormwater facility which would accommodate stormwater runoff. The owner, Ronary, and the city will cooperate on the design and construction of the facility which will provide a benefit to the city and owner.

Under terms of the partnership, 79 percent of stormwater runoff is from the owner’s property and 21 percent is from the city’s land. Ronary proposes to construct the facility on its property and dedicate the property and facility to the city if it receives offsets for stormwater system development charges and a separate street vacation.

Estimated construction costs are $628,587 and the design cost is $95,000. Total contribution to the project from Sumner is $56,593. Ronary’s construction costs on its property is partially offset by stormwater system development charges and the acquisition of a street vacation.

The facility will serve the 136th Avenue East corridor and is located on the south side of 24th Street East on 30 acres of Ronary-owned land. The facility benefits the city’s reconstruction of 136th Avenue East. Sumner is in the process of expanding 136th Avenue East the stormwater facility will benefit the area under expansion by collecting water.

Upon completion, the city will maintain the facility.

Sumner will pay for preparing the facility’s design.
