How difficult this work would be without the wonderful contributions of community members, families, churches, organizations and businesses which support us with food drives to collect items from aloe vera lotion to zucchini and everything in between.

We are very grateful to work in a community that so understands the needs of others and reaches out to help. Our emergency pantry is full to the brim thanks to your generosity. Listed below you will find an amazing list of those who helped us this holiday season. Our hope is that no one is forgotten, but please forgive us if we have left anyone out. A delightful community event took place in Enumclaw on Dec. 9, 2008. The Plateau Area Writers Association hosted the opening presentation of “Wish Upon A Christmas Eve,” a one-act play by local writer Ellen Rupel Hansen. The Dennis Keene Scriptwriter’s Group transformed the Enumclaw Library meeting room into a stage setting depicting a shoe store and a toy store of the 1930s era, creating the backdrop for the outstanding acting by members of the Everybody’s Theater Company.

Laura Curnan, a playwright herself, was the director and played the leading female role. Victor Kernick acted the leading male role. Ken Kottle was the narrator as well as acting the role of shoe store customer. Vickie Elder played the toy store customer. Dennis Riley was the mysterious miracle man. By all reports the acting was superb.

Others in the community contributed to the success of the play. Students of Enumclaw Highschool painted a mural of a 1930 vintage shoe store for the set. They were Alicia McDowell, Sylvia Eckridge, Jessica Matias and Lacey Smith. “Carolers,” an important part of the play, were Phyllis Liljeberg, Julie Taylor, Vicki Elder and Lois Walker.

Cutter’s Supply of Enumclaw generously lent a painting of a wood stove which enhanced the setting.

The playwright, is appreciative of all who helped make this production of “Wish Upon a Christmas” Eve a resounding success.
