A young girl, Stormie Chisam and five Enumclaw Aquatic Center lifeguards joined together in a dramatic effort that saved a girl’s life March 9.

Stormie, a third grader, was at the pool with her friend. Stormie saw the girl develop a medical issue. Stormie quickly ran to the lifeguard, Bella Davenport, and told her about the emergency.

Bella jumped into the water and brought the girl to the surface, making sure she was breathing. With the other lifeguards, Alyse Price, Bennon VanHoof, Spencer Stewart and Riley Sexton, Bella stabilized the girl until emergency personnel arrived.

At the Monday Enumclaw City Council meeting, Mayor Liz Reynolds presented the youths with certificates of recognition for their actions.

Stormie was also made an honorary guard for her “heroic effort that helped save a life.”

The certificates and pictures of the lifeguards and Stormie will be posted to the web tomorrow.
