Women in combat: The night witches of World War II

The Friends of the Sumner Library, 1116 Fryar Ave., is presenting an educational event about Russian World War II pilots, known as "Night Witches" by the Nazis.

The Friends of the Sumner Library, 1116 Fryar Ave., is presenting an educational event about Russian World War II pilots, known as “Night Witches” by the Nazis.

Roger Neill, a Sumner resident and docent for The Museum of Flight, will share the story of the only women to fly combat missions during World War II.

The event is free and will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 9.
