Betty Marie Meinhart, age 100, died Jan. 21, 2017, in Enumclaw.

She was born April 27, 1916, in Watford City, N.D., to Hans Ole and Betty Marie (Tideman) Peterson. She worked as a cook at Evergreen Hospital in Totem Lake and Community Memorial Hospital in Enumclaw. She met and married Richard Meinhart and they moved to Enumclaw in 1977. She always kept busy, crocheting, sewing doll clothes, taking care of great-grandchildren and growing roses. She loved to cook and bake, a specialty being Norwegian lefse, and she is remembered for her beautiful soprano voice. She valued church and taking her family to church.

She is survived by daughters Karolyn Durrenmatt of Auburn and Janet Sigman of Mountain Home, Idaho; son Russell Morency of Oregon City, Ore.; 14 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard J. Meinhart on Feb. 28, 2010; son Roger Morency; brothers Roy and Steve; sisters Esther, Lillian and Verna; and granddaughter Erica Rose.

Services took place Sunday, Jan. 29, at Enumclaw Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was laid to rest Monday, Jan. 30, with her husband at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.
