Bruce Joseph Myers, 87, died July 7, 2017, at his home.

He was born Feb. 6, 1930, to the late Joseph Myers and Valentine Perrennez. He served in the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer, 33 years in both regular service and reserves, and was a Korean War veteran. Following graduation from West Seattle High School, he worked for the Pacific Northwest Bell telephone office in Burien where he met, Kathryn Tallent; they were married in 1950. In 1958 he moved his wife and three children to a farm in Enumclaw where he wanted to raise the family away from the city life. He enjoyed life on the farm including gardening, growing fruits, vegetables and roses. He retired from U.S. West after 37 years. His accomplishments included a private pilot license and electronic technician certification. His hobbies included flying, hunting, salmon fishing and sailboating.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Kathryn (Kay); children Michael (Sherrie), Mark (Jane) and Susan (George); sister Barbara of California; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by brother Kenneth Myers.

A memorial service took place July 13 at Tahoma National Cemetery.
