Darrell Steven Holmquist, 56, died March 27, 2017, in Morton, Wash.

Most recently an Orting resident, he was born Aug. 23, 1960, in Tacoma. He was self-employed for 35 years in Bonney Lake, owning C&D Topsoil. He enjoyed his bike, the outdoors, gardening and the beach.

He is survived by wife Clara S. Holmquist of Orting; mother Claudia Holmquist of Tacoma; father Albert Roy (Loni) Holmquist of Skamokawa, Wash.; sons Kyle (Michelle) Holmquist and Jake Holmquist, all of Orting; daughter Krista Holmquist of Orting; sister Delene (David) Gillespie of Hillsdale, Wyo.; brother-in-law Pete (Margaret) Anderson of Enumclaw; sisters-in-law Tammy (Jim) Foster of Kalispell, Mont., and Charlotte (Mike) Strain of Bonney Lake; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by son Gregory Holmquist and his parents-in-law.

A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6, at the Buckley Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with burial at Buckley City Cemetery.
