Former area resident George Patrick Duffy, 74, of Red Cliff, Wisconsin, died Nov. 6, 2017.

Known as “Pat” by family and friends, he was born to the late George and Rose (Gurnoe) Duffy in Red Cliff and graduated from Bayfield (Wisconsin) High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962-67. He retired from the concrete business in 2005 in Washington state, lived in this area for more than 35 years and returned to Bayfield in 2012 with his wife, Barbara. He was an active member of the VFW Honor guard and was a 4th-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara; children David Duffy (Sarah) of Anchorage, Alaska, and Shannon Harker (Jamie) of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; siblings Don Duffy, Georgia Boucher, Joseph Duffy and Josephine Brown; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by siblings Robert (Buddy) Duffy, Eugene Duffy, Mark Duffy, Vincent Duffy and Rose Marie Ruesch.

A Rosary and visitation took place at 9 a.m. Nov. 10 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Red Cliff, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. A reception followed at the VFW Hall in Red Cliff.

Bratley Funeral Home in Washburn, Wisconsin, handled the arrangements.
