Helen Karen Olson

Enumclaw resident Helen Karen Olson died Sept. 24, 2015, at the age of 101.

She was born Dec. 24, 1913, in Buchanan, Saskatchewan, to Swedish immigrant parents Hugo and Adeline Ekenstedt. The family of 10 moved to Bellingham, Wash., when she was 12. She married Carl Olson in 1935 and the couple moved to West Seattle in 1941. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and spent winters in Mesa, Ariz., for 12 years after her husband retired from Boeing. After his death in 1988, she enjoyed traveling the world with groups and her family. Her favorite destination was Paris. She moved to Enumclaw in 2000 and was a member of both the Trinity Lutheran congregation and the Hope Lutheran family of believers. In 2011 she moved to Living Court.

She is survived by children Carol Bogar (Dean), Marilyn Stolz (Fred) and David Olson (Frances), nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters and a granddaughter, Chrissy McElfresh, in 2014.

A funeral service took place Oct. 2, 2015, at Weeks Enumclaw Funeral Home.
