Julian L. Whitley died Feb. 25, 2017, in Enumclaw.

He was born Nov. 7, 1951, in Chicago, Ill. He earned a master’s degree from St. John’s University and served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He then worked as a computing security manager at Boeing until retirement. He liked gardening, working crossword puzzles, making breakfast, writing his novel and taking care of his family.

He is survived by wife Kyla Whitley of Enumclaw; daughters Jordan Whitley of Renton and Kasey Whitley of Enumclaw; son Austin Whitley of Enumclaw; and sister Jonell Whitley of Gary, Ind.
