Larry was born in Redding California to Lucille Hannoford and Harry Overland.

As he grew older he spent numerous summers on his grandmother’s and uncle’s farm located in Oregon. It was at this time of his life that Larry found his love for the outdoors.

One of his many tasks working on the farm was fixing the equipment. He found that he was really good at keeping the equipment humming.

Larry enlisted in the Airforce November 12, 1957. The Airforce recognized Larry’s natural talent with equipment and designated him as an engineer technician where he was promptly sent to George AB in Victorville CA.

As an aircraft mechanical technician, Larry was sent all over the world ensuring various aircraft were well maintained, thus guaranteeing the success of each critical mission.

It was at this time Larry started his family. In 1963 Larry left the Airforce and continued his illustrious career working for the federal government as a technical expert for the Federal Aviation Administration.

Larry worked his way up and In July of 1995 after 40 years of government service he left as a Supervisory Airway Transportations system specialist.

Upon his retirement Larry received a Certificate of Appreciation from Governor Mike Lowry for his 40 years of government service.

In retirement Larry kept busy with his love of golf and helping his wife with their café called the Pony Express.

It was these two passions and their large blended family that kept Larry busy which never left him bored.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Cynthia Layer; Brother Norman Overland (Domie); Children Debra K. Crowley, Kathy Lozano (Joe), George Overland, Theresa Overland, Deborah L. Delgado (Eli), Dale Dunks Jr., Jessica Knecht (Chris) and Luke Overland along with 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many extended family members.
