Martin Marta

Martin Marta died May 14, 2016, in Enumclaw. He was 98.

He was born March 23, 1918, in Trojan, S.D. He began his career as a welder working on movie sets in Hollywood and, during World War II, he worked for Northrop where he helped pioneer the TIG welding process. He later worked for, and retired from, Marquardt. He enjoyed fishing and loved working in his garden and tinkering with items.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Marta, on Nov. 13, 2005, and by sons Jan and Robert Marta.

He is survived by two grandsons, three granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
