Myrtle Pries

She was born in Burliegh County, North Dakota, to Lawrence and Iva Ousley, where she lived until the age of 16. In 1943 she moved from Wilton, North Dakota, to Puyallup with her family.

She was born in Burliegh County, North Dakota, to Lawrence and Iva Ousley, where she lived until the age of 16. In 1943 she moved from Wilton, North Dakota, to Puyallup with her family. She began working at the ship yard and 1944 moved to Carbonado. On Aug. 19, 1945, she married William O. Morgan and they made their home in Carbonado. They had four children: Douglas, Sandra Jean, William and Dan. She worked at Farman’s Pickle Factory and, in 1962, began working at Rainier School; she retired after more than 26 years. In September 1968 she married John R. Pries and they made their home in first in Enumclaw and later in Cumberland. After retiring, they moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She enjoyed camping, hunting deer and elk, dancing, cooking and crafting.

She and her husband returned to Carbonado in 2002 when he became ill. She lived with her children until she required specialized care. She then lived at Fountain Court in Maple Valley, Cedar Ridge in Bonney Lake and Edgewood Country Retreat.

A visitation is planned for 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 15, with a funeral service at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 16, both at Weeks’ Funeral Home in Buckley. A graveside service will take place Saturday, July 22, at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Porthill, Idaho.
