Longtime Enumclaw resident Paul James Alexander died May 8, 2017, in Medford, Oregon.

He was born Dec. 13, 1929, in Ontario, Oregon. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-54, the Air Force Reserves from 1956-62 and the Army Reserves from 1964-89 when he retired as a major on his 60th birthday. He graduated with a BSME from Oregon State University in 1958 and completed U.S. Army engineering courses in 1966. He worked as an engineer for GSA from 1958 until retiring in 1985. He then operated a home-based construction business specializing in residential repairs and remodeling.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Alexander; sons Grant Alexander (Marites) and David Alexander; and one granddaughter.

Services with military honors will take place at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at Tahoma National Cemetery.
