Buckley resident Paul L. Pfieffer died June 12, 2019.

He was born Nov. 3, 1945, to Paul and Frances Pfieffer in Auburn, Washington. He had two brothers, Jerry and Bob, and sister Lauretta. The family moved to a small dairy farm in Buckley in 1959. He graduated as valedictorian of his Buckley High School class and was active in sports and student leadership. His studies at the University of Washington were interrupted by service in the Army in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged at rank of sergeant with commendation medal and bronze star.

He had worked summers during college at Langendorf Bakery in Seattle and, following the military, he began full time work at the bakery as swing shift foreman. He returned to Buckley, bought an old house with a friend and set about improving it. Following retirement in 1997 he enjoyed playing golf with friends, traveling to Reno and Hawaii and following the Huskies and Seahawks. He also enjoyed visiting Emerald Downs a couple times a week, testing his skill with small wagers on the horses.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Buckley Eagles, 29021 State Route 410 E., Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019, 2-4 p.m. Please visit funeral home website, to leave condolences and memories.
